How Ranking Works
We want you to find the right seller as fast as possible, so ranking is designed around one rule: relevance comes first.
The order of operations
- Relevance. Results are grouped into relevance bands based on how well they match your query (catalog number, brand, keywords, detected item type). A closer match ranks above a looser one, regardless of the factors below.
- Among equally relevant results, a small number of signals reorder items within the same band:
- Listings approved by the seller (verified as accurate and current) rank above uninspected, auto-collected listings. - Items with confirmed local stock in Israel rank slightly higher than items without confirmed stock. - Items made in Israel get a small boost, to surface local manufacturing where relevant. - Demand signals (how often Israeli labs have asked about an item) provide a small boost, capped so that popularity alone does not outweigh relevance. - If you've opted into personalization, items in the item types you search most get a small boost, entirely on top of the relevance ordering above.
- Partners first. Sellers who have reviewed and confirmed their details on LabSource get a Partner badge next to their name. When several Israeli sellers carry the same brand, and in the sellers directory, partners are listed first; the order is otherwise unchanged. Becoming a partner is free and open to every seller. Partner is not a paid placement; if paid options are ever offered, they will be labeled separately as sponsored.
None of these secondary signals can move a less relevant result above a more relevant one.
Sponsored placements
We do not currently sell sponsored placements. If we introduce them in the future:
- sponsored slots will be clearly labeled as sponsored, with the same label across the Site;
- sponsorship does not affect whether a listing is marked "Approved by seller" or the accuracy checks we apply to it.
Second-hand and services
Second-hand items and services are ranked using the same relevance-first rules and are clearly labeled as such, so you can distinguish them from new items at a glance.
